Founded in 1994, and headquartered in Palo Alto, California, Clarum Homes is a family-owned development company devoted to building exceptional new home communities and apartments in the Bay Area.

Over the last decade, we have built our business on these principles and we have continued the tradition by expanding our mission to include sustainable, energy efficient and environmentally friendly features in every home we build.
Clarum's mission of building sustainable and environmentally-friendly homes and its leadership as a green homebuilder in the building industry began in 1999 when we first started providing homeowners with solar electric power systems and other energy efficiency features as standard equipment. As we researched and found additional products and features that could save homeowners money and provide efficiency while protecting the environment, we incorporated these elements into our green building program.
In the fall of 2002, we unveiled the culmination of our green building program efforts with the introduction of the Enviro-HomeTM, a Zero Energy Home prototype. A perfectly designed blend of innovative construction technologies, unsurpassed energy efficiency and the use of environmentally friendly construction materials, this home is a breakthrough for Clarum Homes, and for the entire homebuilding industry. Being part of the solution and building environmentally sensitive communities is of utmost importance to Clarum, and that's why we decided to be the first homebuilder in the nation to build entire communities with Zero Energy Home technology as standard equipment. Zero Energy Homes are constructed with green building products, generate their own electricity with photovoltaic (solar electric) systems and reduce energy consumption by up to 90% with other energy efficient features such as on-demand hot water heaters, radiant roof barriers, energy efficient HVAC, tight ducting, increased insulation and low-emissions window systems. The Enviro-HomeTM is the result of much research and Clarum's participation in the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Program. Additional designations earned by the Enviro-HomeTM include the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star rating, ConSol's ComfortWise® designation, and the Building Industry Institute's California Green Builder Certification.
